I Dr. Scott McKenzie am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in Orthopaedic Surgery and a graduate of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at McMaster University. I have been in active clinical practice for approximately 20 years, with a subspecialty focus on hip and knee arthroplasty and orthopaedic trauma.
I hold licensure to practice medicine in the Province of Ontario and maintain active hospital privileges at the Royal Victoria Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario. In addition, I hold orthopaedic practice privileges at Pensum Regenerative Medicine and Cayman Orthopaedic Group in Grand Cayman. My clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of adult reconstructive surgery, including primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as the management of acute musculoskeletal injuries.
My operative experience includes total hip arthroplasty (anterior and lateral approaches), total knee arthroplasty, arthroscopy and total shoulder arthroplasty. My trauma practice includes the surgical management of a broad range of fractures and soft tissue injuries, excluding spine and pelvic trauma. I also perform minimally invasive and arthroscopic shoulder procedures, as well as image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic injections of major joints.
I also incorporate Regenerative Medicine options into approach, including stem cell and PRP treatments for patients who are appropriate candidates. Treatment decisions are guided by a thorough evaluation of each patient’s conditions, focusing on what will provide the best possible outcome and overall care for the patient.
In addition to my clinical work, I have extensive experience in medico-legal assessment. I have conducted in excess of 1,000 independent medical examinations. These assessments have included evaluation of diagnosis, causation, impairment, prognosis, and functional capacity.
My approach to medico-legal assessment is objective, evidence-based, and grounded in current orthopaedic standards of care. I provide clear, balanced, and impartial opinions based on clinical findings, comprehensive review of documentation, and accepted medical principles. I understand that my duty as an expert is to provide independent and objective opinion evidence within my area of expertise.
